Since 1991, STOPP has taken a community-based approach to addressing tobacco prevention. The STOPP Coalition serves as an active advisory group to establish tobacco control priorities in San Joaquin County.
This work includes focusing on reducing the availability of tobacco products and secondhand smoke, increasing access to cessation services for individuals desiring to quit, and raising awareness among parents and the community on the dangers of emerging tobacco products and their health impacts.
Members of the STOPP Coalition include educators, community-based organizations, health systems and health plans, youth groups, and San Joaquin County residents. Members represent the diverse community and provide their input and expertise to assist in efforts to reduce and/or eliminate tobacco use in SJC.
Coalition meetings are held virtually every other month and membership is open to all interested parties. Contact stopp@sjcphs.org for more information.
