The Coalition for Tobacco-Free San Joaquin

The Coalition for Tobacco-free San Joaquin "formerly known as the Smoking & Tobacco Outreach/Prevention Program (STOPP) Community Coalition" was founded in 1991. It is made up of volunteers from community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools and educators, healthcare providers, and community members. 

The Coalition provides a community setting for tobacco prevention advocates to discuss policy-level changes and tobacco use prevention strategies that can improve the health of all San Joaquin County residents.

The Coalition also provides educational workshops and training courses covering topics such as Tobacco Education, Public Speaking, Data Collection and much more! Opportunities are designed to provide the Coalition with space, knowledge, and resources to advance tobacco control work!

Youth Advocacy Against Tobacco (YAAT)

Is a subset of the Coalition for a Tobacco-free San Joaquin that hopes to engage youth community members in the county in anti-tobacco and nicotine efforts. The coalition offers many benefits to its members, including volunteer hours, leadership opportunities, and advocacy skills. Members will receive community services, education youth on the harmful effects of tobacco in San Joaquin County through events and activities, help created policies in San Joaquin County that will reduce the harmful effects of tobacco and can gain leadership experience.

  • The Policy Workgroup provides opportunities for members to make meaningful differences, build relationships, and advance their professional goals. If you're thinking "why should I attend", here are three benefits to consider :

  • The Cessation Workgroup provides opportunities to share ideas and resources to promote cessation services and spread information to the community of San Joaquin County.

  • Refresh San Joaquin is a component of our CalFresh Healthy Living Program. The goals of the program are to work with local retailers to make store improvements that increase access to healthier foods and beverages and reduce advertising in the community for tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy food and beverages.
